How about a Mercedes C200 "Jalopnik" edition?

There are no really cheap RWD fun saloons available, and Nissan quietly buried the IDx Concept. So how about Mercedes stepping in? I'm thinking of a "naked" C200 with a bit more grunt to get it in the 220hp range, a sportier set of wheels & tires, sport suspension and a pair of nice, manually adjustable sport seats upfront. Basically a C200 with some bits and bolts from the rest of the C-Class range.

Good luck ordering one. They'll try to tack on all kinds of extras until you're blue in the face, then reveal you have to wait 15 months for it to arrive. Once it does, it'll be fully loaded and they'll up-charge you anyway.

Really? Maybe in the US. My grandpa ordered his C-Class (W202) with pretty much no options except for a sunroof, ski bag and cassette player and it was ready to be picked up a few weeks later. It's actually quite common over here to buy a car "a la carte", and especially the older buyers often buy their cars naked because they just don't care about all that fancy tech stuff.

Mercedes usually sell their cars at a premium, so they're trying to make the maximum amount or profit possible.

Wow, I guess this also only applies to the US - Mercedes in the past has been giving out discounts in the domestic market like crazy, at some point you could buy a new E-class for VW Passat money. When my dad briefly looked at a C-Class Wagon they already offered him 2 grand off the sticker price.
